Hi please go easy on me - I'm new to this area. I've been using Garritan Personal Orchestra with Logic Studio for several years. This I believe uses the Konatk player.
However, I've been forced to upgrade and now this set of libraries is supplied with the Aria Player. But I have hundreds of songs I want to load in Logic Studio that now fail because the Konatk player is not present. Stupid Question - Can I just buy a Kontakt player and make everything work is some simple way?
Or this a magic wand scenario? Martin Crowley. The Kontakt Player based GPO works with a Kontakt 2 Player and the Kontakt 2 Player has problems on OSX 10.6 and won't work at all on OSX 10.7 or Logic 64bit. If you get it to work in the new Kontakt 5 Player, the Kontakt 5 Player will not automatically appear in your songs, you have to replace the Kontakt 2 instruments one by one, so it's as much trouble as using the Aria Player. The best thing you can do is keep an OSX 10.5 or 10.6 system next to (or on a seperate partition of) your main working system and if you need to open an old song, open it on the 10.5/10.6 system and write down all the instruments you use. This stuff happens to everyone, that's why most studio's keep all their old computers and many pro's bounce tracks so they won't need a specific plugin in the future.
Old unfinished songs one day become dependent on abandoned software, very risky. I think the orchestra that came with Kontakt 2, 3, 4 and 5 is far better then Garritan, by the way, so if you want to improve your old tracks, consider getting Kontakt. Appreciate the help all - well I did the export to audio and it took a long time but I feel better for having them ( especially as these are recordings I've done for others on many occassions ). Now in terms of installing Konakt on the old machine, this failed as I'm running Mac OSX Leopard on the old and this isn't compatible. But I have installed it on the New IMac ( running OSX Lion ) and I've got it working with the old libraries. Only problem remaining is that it's running in demo mode. When I click to activate it - it asks for the Garritan GPO2 serial number.
